At Carter Printing Company, our story begins over 50 years ago when Linwood Carter started a newspaper printing company called Carter Mat Service. The business has since evolved over the years, adapting to the advancements in technology and the ever-changing demands of the industry. Today, we are a nationally recognized, family-owned full-service printing provider, dedicated to bringing our clients' creative visions to life.
Our History
Carter Mat Service began by providing metal lead plates for printing presses, serving clients from various industries, including grocery stores, religious magazines, and big-name retail clients across the Mid-Atlantic. As technology grew, the company advanced alongside it, becoming Carter Composition in 1968. The business continued to flourish under the leadership of Linwood's son, Wayne Carter, who studied computer programming and invested in the first photo-typesetting equipment in the region.
As the company grew, Wayne focused on customer service, increasing employment, and introducing a new slogan, "Get it Printed!" This marked a significant milestone, as we rebranded as Carter Printing Company. Since then, successive generations of the Carter family have contributed to the company's success, ensuring a heritage of quality, reliability, and dedication to our clients.
