Our History

Alchar Printing, formerly known as Allen & Charlotte's Printing, is a third-generation family owned and operated business with a rich history dating back to 1968. Founded in West Sand Lake, New York, the company grew steadily over the years, driven by a commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. In 1978, Jack Hupe and Tom Dowd purchased the business, ushering in a new era marked by unionization and a dedication to providing high-quality printing services.

Fueled by continuous expansion, Alchar Printing relocated to its current Troy, New York location in 1980. Over the following decades, the company's footprint grew significantly through strategic acquisitions, absorbing the expertise and clientele of Birkmayer Artcrafters (1982), Schenectady Herold Printing (1986), Vee Printing (1999), and Lower Forty Prepress (2000). This integration of talent and resources allowed Alchar to become a true one-stop shop for all printing needs.

In 2000, the company passed into the sole ownership and management of Jack Hupe and Denise Padula, further solidifying its position as a local leader. A testament to its commitment to empowering women in business, Alchar Printing officially became a NYS Certified Woman-Owned Business Enterprise in 2006 under Denise Padula's leadership, demonstrating its dedication to promoting equality and opportunity.
