Cone Editions Press

Cone Editions Press, founded in 1980 by Jon and Cathy Cone, is a collaborative printmaking studio that has been at the forefront of fine art printmaking for over four decades. Our studio, located in East Topsham, Vermont, has been instrumental in the development and advancement of digital printmaking, photogravure, inkjet printing, and platinum printing.

Jon Cone, a graduate of the Ohio University School of Art, is a Master Printer and the pioneer of digital printmaking. He has been dedicated to the field since 1984 and has contributed numerous innovations, including the first archival inkjet inks, quad-black inkjet printing, the introduction of light blacks and pigment ink before the OEMs, and the development of Piezography, which has set the highest standards for fine black & white printing since 1995. In 2010, Jon introduced the Piezography digital negative, and in 2017, he pioneered Piezography direct-to-plate photogravure. Currently, he is working on PiezoChrome, which combines Piezography technology and color printmaking.

Cathy Cone, a photographer and painter, is the creative director of the Workshops and Studio at Cone Editions Press. She received her training at Ohio University, Vermont Studio Center, and the Maine Media Photographic Workshops, and earned her MFA at the Maine Media College. Cathy has been awarded the Vermont Art Fellowships and has exhibited her work at the Weisman Art Museum, University of Alabama, DeCordova Museum, and the The Vermont.
